Radio Fragments - Hooray for Summer!

It's been a weird cold spring here in the Seattle area...but today breaks that trend, and about time. For the first time in 273 (!) days, the temperature broke 75F. After a while you start pulling for the cool air. "Come on! You can do 300 days! Go Arctic air!" Or maybe that's me. But now that it's passed, I'm glad for the warmth. I drove in to the show tonight with the sunroof open!

Life In Fragments - 26 Weeks

26 weeks. One half a year. It honestly doesn't seem that long. I love coming in late, the studio is quiet and dark, and I get to play my favorite music for my favorite people -- anonymous radio listeners and internet denizens.

To celebrate this milestone, I am revisiting some of my favorite tunes from the first 5 months or so. You might call it a cop-out -- in which case you've got a real attitude problem, Mister. I've done 25 shows without repeats, that's 50 hours of music. Give me a break. Sheesh, you anonymous types are rough!

And of course, this is a pledge week at KBCS. So, if you listen to this show on the internet, please take a moment and think about the value you get out of this show and consider a small donation to the people who make it possible. Go to kbcs.fm and click the 'donate now' link. Any and all donations are valued. May I suggest $50? That's less than a dollar per show, less than 50 cents per hour. What, is my time not worth 50 measly cents an hour? Wow, you guys really are tough.

Next week, more great new tunes, and 100% less begging for money.

Radio Fragments - A quarter century...well, 25 shows at least.

I'm midway through a triptich of landmark shows. Last week was 24 (meaning 48 hours of music), this week it's 25 (just a nice roundish number that feels comforting to us base-10 entities), and next week it'll be 26 (meaning 26 weeks, or 1/2 year on the air).

Ok, so they're all relatively arbitrary milestones, but I feel like i'm really hitting my stride with the weekly schedule...well, except for the late nights sometime. This week I needed to be in the office at 8:30 the next day, so I'm a little bleary, so I'll leave it at that and let the music speak for itself.

Radio Fragments - 48 hours

I've been looking forward to this show for a long while now. Show #24. That means 48 hours of red hot radiophonic entertainment. It's been my goal to do my first 48 hours without repeated songs, 2 days of music without repeats. Seemed like a worthy goal.

So here we are. That's not to say that next week will be nothing but repeats -- though I am considering a 'favorites so far' show -- but having hit my first goal, I guess I'll just have to come up with something new. Oh, and thanks to the people who made requests this week, it's always great to have someone else's ideas to work from.
